In this interview, we explore her journey and the passion that drives her success.
What was your inspiration behind the "Kamilla by Yes Couture" brand?
The "Kamilla by Yes Couture" brand was born out of my childhood passion for fashion and my collaboration with Yes Couture. From a young age, I was fascinated by the fashion world, actively participating in design and runway shows. My biggest dream has always been to create my brand. To bring this vision to life, I joined forces with the Yes Couture team, and together, we established this brand. I’m especially grateful to Yes Couture’s founder, Yegana Sadikhova, for her invaluable support on this journey.
Do you have any plans for future collaborations in fashion?
My plans include collaborating with globally renowned brands and distinguished personalities in the fashion industry. I aspire to represent my work on an international level. One of my primary goals is to see well-known personalities wearing our designs at prestigious events like the Cannes Film Festival, Golden Globe Awards, and Venice Film Festival.
You recently won the GRAND PRIX award at the Global Miss Union project in Dubai. How has this achievement influenced your career and approach to fashion?
Winning the GRAND PRIX award at the Global Miss Union project was a significant achievement and a great source of inspiration. It was a crucial step towards gaining international recognition in both fashion and music. This award has given me even more motivation to move forward and participate in new projects. Looking ahead, I plan to participate in larger fashion and music projects proudly representing Azerbaijan on international platforms.
How did participating in the Owlypia International Competition influence your perspective on creativity and intellectual development?
Winning two silver medals at the Owlypia International Competition in Cambridge and representing Azerbaijan was a remarkable experience. It reinforced the importance of creativity and intellectual growth, proving that success isn’t limited to fashion and music – I can also excel academically. Moving forward, I aim to achieve even more in both fashion and education, continuously expanding my knowledge and skills.
Can you tell us about your experience recording songs composed by international musicians?
I am actively pursuing both music and fashion, continuing my education in both fields. I mainly perform songs composed by international musicians many of which can be found on my YouTube channel (Kamilla Mamedzade). Under the guidance of the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, Fidan Hajiyeva, I’m also studying opera.
My music career began in 2017 when I won the "Princessa" nomination at the Kids Best Model competition. Two years later, in 2019, I introduced my song "Helping You", marking my debut in the music world.
That same year, I performed in the Zima project, a children’s music festival held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, where I performed the song "Meduza" as a duet with my colleague. In 2021, I was awarded the "Professional Child Singer" nominated by the Golden Palm Awards and in the same year, I won the "Best Child Singer" award in Turkey. In 2022, I was honoured with the "The Successful Child Singer" nominated by the Global Woman Awards.
That year also brought another remarkable achievement – I won the international culture and talent festival held as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai exhibition. My journey continued when in 2023 I received the "The Best Child Singer" by the Golden People Awards. And in 2024, I was awarded the "The Best Child Singer" by the Millionaire Concept.
How do you balance your music career with your fashion and academic commitments?
For me, fashion and music are two artistic fields that complement each other perfectly. Although it is challenging, I manage my time effectively to pursue both disciplines simultaneously. In 2021, I showcased my collection "Kamilla’s Magic World" at Neva Fashion Week. Later that year, I won the Grand Prize at the Golden Star Kids competition in Antalya. In the same year, I performed the songs "Khari Bulbul" and "Azerbaijan Turkey", dedicated to Victory Day, becoming a symbol of patriotism.
In the future, alongside being a fashion designer, I also aim to take part in bigger music projects.
On February 22, you presented two fashion shows at the SIMOORG Academy in Baku. What was the most memorable moment of that night for you?
This event was incredibly significant for me because it was the first major fashion show I organised while still studying fashion. I prepared two different shows, which required great responsibility as many distinguished guests were in attendance. One of the most memorable aspects of the event was our fusion of fashion and art, where we incorporated a dance performance into the show. This unique combination was highly appreciated by the audience, and the event was a great success. I also would like to express my special gratitude to Hediye Talibova, the founder and director of SIMOORG Academy, for organising this wonderful event.
Looking at your recent achievements, what are your current projects, and what can we expect from you in the near future?
I am constantly striving to achieve greater success in both fashion and music at an international level and working on self-improvement. My ultimate goal is to develop unique projects that will represent Azerbaijan globally and leave a lasting impact.
One of my main goals is to participate in international fashion weeks. I plan to present my collections in Paris, London, and other major fashion capitals. Additionally, I intend to participate in a fashion event in Qatar, Doha from April 8 to 10. Later, from May 28 to June 4, I will be attending the MILAN’25 international fashion certification programme, organised by SIMOORG Academy and ClassA Fashion School.
