Met Gala 2025: Monday, Made For Fashion

Met Gala Monday — fashion’s most anticipated night of the year. It’s that one evening when the biggest stars and designers come together to create unforgettable style moments. This year’s dress code, as always carefully curated, was “Tailored for You,” inspired by the evening’s theme and the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” So, i gathered some thoughts on the looks.

Gigi Hadid in Custom Miu Miu
Gigi Hadid truly caught my eye at this year’s Met Gala in her custom Miu Miu gown. The halter-neck silhouette in rich gold velvet felt luxurious without being overdone. I especially appreciated how the fabric draped so cleanly at the hips—it gave the look a sense of ease and refinement. The gold and crystal embroidery added a touch of sparkle, but it was subtle enough to keep the focus on the silhouette. To me, it was one of the evening’s more polished and well-balanced looks.

Bad Bunny in Prada
Bad Bunny’s red carpet moment stood out for all the right reasons. He wore a dark brown Prada suit embellished with 600 yellow crystals, which gave it just enough edge without overshadowing the craftsmanship. I liked how he leaned into cultural references by carrying a yellow-and-brown bowling bag and wearing a traditional Puerto Rican jíbaro hat. The Afro-Caribbean influence was clear, but what impressed me most was how effortlessly he made the entire look feel personal and cohesive. It was thoughtful styling, not just for show.

Kendall Jenner in Torisheju
Kendall Jenner’s look was one of the more understated choices of the night, but that’s part of why I liked it. She wore a tailored grey suit with a structured fishtail skirt, creating a clean, minimal silhouette. The Chopard necklace she wore added just the right amount of shine without pulling too much attention. Inspired by the fashion of the 1920s and figures like Gladys Bentley, her outfit subtly nodded to the theme while supporting Torisheju, an emerging designer and woman of colour. It was a quiet but meaningful choice, and it worked.

Rihanna in Marc Jacobs
Rihanna made a statement—as she always does—with a late entrance and a surprise pregnancy reveal. She wore a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble that mixed structured tailoring with signature Rihanna glamour. The outfit included a sharply cut Spencer jacket, a corseted bodysuit, and a pinstriped skirt with a dramatic bustle. The crisp white collar, satin cravat, and oversized hat tied it all together with a retro twist. I thought the look respected the night’s theme while still feeling very true to her. It wasn’t loud, but it was memorable.

Kylie Jenner in Ferragamo
Kylie Jenner closed the red carpet in a custom Ferragamo dress by Maximilian Davis. The dress featured a herringbone halter-neck design with scattered black-and-white beading, a sheer corseted bodice, and a low-waisted skirt with a thigh-high slit. What stood out to me was how the whole look was tailored to her without trying too hard. It was sleek, modern, and fit her aesthetic well. Nothing about it felt overly dramatic, but it was a solid, well-thought-out look to finish the night.
