Toned Summer

When is the best time to lose weight and get fit? One may say any time before summer, but we say SUMMER! The grocery stores are packed with natural products that are weight loss savers. We are here to tell you about the magic of these summer veggies and fruits that will help you get rid of that extra pounds you so desperately want to get rid of.

First on our list is the summer favourite - watermelon! 92 percent water and fiber helps you stay full for longer, and rich in vitamins C and A, magnesium, potassium, and the antioxidant lycopene helps prevent the growth of cancer cells. So, it is not only a good sugar cravings stopper but actually healthy.

Second on our list is the veggie king of water percentage - cucumber. It helps regulate hydration, maintains adequate blood pressure and sugar levels, and moisturizes the skin, contains vitamins A, C, K, and improves digestion. Wow! One cucumber a day, keeps the extra pound away!

Tomatoes! Mid-summer is their season, so go grab some juicy tomatoes and make yourself a salad (P.S: add cucumbers for extra flavour and water intake) Oh, almost forgot to mention that they are low-calorie with a medium-sized fruit containing only 22 calories.

And finally, citrus! Rich in potassium, fiber, vitamins A and C, magnesium and calcium, citruses are high in water and keep you hydrated during hot summer days. French researchers found that taking a mixture of blood orange, grapefruit, sweet orange and guarana extracts twice a day as a dietary supplement can reduce abdominal fat deposits, as well as help you lose extra centimeters around the waist and hips.


Tip: add slices of lemon and grapefruit to your water while working out, as a large amount of potassium helps reduce muscle spasms that may occur during exercising.
